Charltons Banff

Our History
Our roots take us all the way back to 1949, when Elmer and Grace Charlton opened Charlton’s Cedar Court, Banff’s first year-round tourist accommodation. Over the next several decades, the motel evolved into Charltons Banff, the charming alpine-style hotel you see today.
In 2000, Charlton Resorts’ second property, Evergreen Court, was transformed into the Royal Canadian Lodge. This luxurious full-service hotel levelled up yet again in 2019 with extensive room renovations.
In 2022, Charltons Banff and Royal Canadian Lodge were acquired and began operating under the management of Innvest Hotels. In 2024, InnVest Hotels acquired a third property, Banff Inn, forming the Banff Collection.
InnVest Hotels are committed to continuing the Charlton family’s legacy of preserving Banff National Park and providing exceptional visitor experiences.
UNESCO World Heritage Site
Banff is part of the Canadian Rocky Mountain Parks, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Banff National Park, established in 1885, was Canada’s first national park. Every year, millions of people from around the world travel to the area to marvel at the park’s natural beauty, explore hiking trails, ski the slopes, and experience the unforgettable activities and attractions available to them.
Banff National Park is within the present-day territories of the Treaty 6, 7, and 8 First Nations as well as the Métis Homeland. The lands and waters of Banff have been used for millennia by Indigenous Peoples for sustenance, ceremony, trade and travel, contributing to the rich cultural heritage of the area.
